The Americans have used up all their options in Afghanistan. There last option was to use the surge to tackle the insurgency in Afghanistan, with obvious target Kandahar. But after their first trial run in a smaller town backfired spectacularly, the surge in Kandahar is on hold for time being while new strategies are formed and formulated.
Considering the timescale of withdrawal in summer of 2011 given by President Obama it looks unlikely that any new substantive plans can be formed and implemented by the Americans. They already have boosted their troop’s number twice since the announcement of the Policy. But the ground situation and dynamics have not changed in any significant and fruitful way for the Americans.

After failing in their plan surge, it seems now new strategy is in operation, according to this strategy new approach has been adopted to find the escape goat for the failures of American and NATO in Afghanistan. The obvious target is Pakistan and its establishment. Recently, a new report is produced by the LSE group to malign the name of Pakistan and its establishment in a study and report published by the Times of London.
